The POKeRUS is a very rare & very beneficial POKeMON status condition.
You will know your POKeMON have it when you see the small initials in purple in the lower left hand conner of your POKeMON summery. Also Nurse Joy will let you know the 1st time she heals POKeMON that have the POKeRUS.
Your POKeMON have a small chance of catching the POKeRUS randomly when your out training in the wild with them.
POKeMON that have the POKeRUS will always have the condition if they are put & left in your PC boxs. POKeMON that are outside of the PC boxs have the POKeRUS until your game clock strikes 12 am/pm. It is like a Cinderella condition. This happens on your saved game even if you are not playing it at the time. They will be cured when you start playing again if they were infected & left in your party at 12:00. They are always cured at 12:00 despite however long they have been infected. If you don't want them to be cured just make sure they are not saved/in your party at 12:00. As long as they are in your PC boxs between 11:59 & 12:01 they are safe because that is the time they are cured. They can be infected forever if you are careful.
Infected POKeMON will be able to spread the condition. When you use them in battle they quickly spread the condition to the POKeMON next to them in your party.
If your POKeMON are frozen, paralized, burned, or sleeping while they have the POKeRUS you will not see it in their summery, the other status condition will over write the purple initials until you heal them. However they will still be under the condition of POKeRUS.
The POKeRUS doubles effort values gained by your winning POKeMON when he/she/it defeats another POKeMON & gains experence. Therefore there is nothing you can't do without the POKeRUS. The POKeRUS just inables you to max out the effort values sooner then if the POKeMON were not infected by it.
The doubling of effort values still happens when POKeMON have been cured of the condition. You will know a POKeMON has had the condition & no-longer has the capacity to spread it when you see a small dote in the lower left hand conner of their status summery. This is garenteed to happen to any infected POKeMON not in your PC boxs at 12:00.
You can successfully trade POKeMON infected with the POKeRUS to another game. Then you can infect the POKeMON in that game using the infected POKeMON that you traded to it.
POKeMON that defeat other POKeMON & gain experence will ether >
1) Get x2 the effort values when they have the POKeRUS
OR
2) Get x2 the effort values when they have recovered from the POKeRUS
OR
3) Get x4 the effort values when they have the POKeRUS & are also holding the Macro brace
OR
4) Get x4 the effort values when they have recovered from the POKeRUS & are also holding the Macro brace
